With a carpet bag full of antique laces left to her by her Grandmother,
the first antique lace wedding dress was created. That was some 25 years
ago and designer Michelle Fairbanks has been creating beautiful
one-of-kind gowns from reclaimed fabric ever since. Most all of her
gowns are two pieces allowing the bride to wear her gown after the
wedding.
The
lacey bustier looks fabulous with jeans while the skirts minus their
petticoats stand alone beautifully paired with a fancy t-shirt or
cashmere sweater.
Michelle has enjoyed owning boutiques in Newton, Brookline, New
Hampshire and Nantucket. Today she operates from her glorious studio in
Osterville Mass., with her two Shih-Tzu’s Rosy and Daisy keeping her
company. There is an ever changing collection of clothing to be
purchased at the studio, along with interesting jewelry hats and
accessories. Michelle encourages customers to bring in their treasured
fabrics, tablecloth or bits and pieces of sentimental value and let her
create
A
contemporary piece of clothing that will be sure to become tomorrows
antique.
